Home Energy Rating System Audit
A HERS (Home Energy Rating System) Rating for new construction involves a detailed computer analysis of the construction plans, including quality of building materials, lighting fixtures and appliances. Along with the software analysis, two sites visits assure that quality of construction standards are met. The first visit inspects the proper installation of insulating materials and sealing of thermal bypasses. The second site visit is after construction completion, and tests the duct leakage and natural air infiltration of the structure. Based on the plan analysis and collected field data, a confirmed energy use index (HERS index) is calculated.
