Single-Family home audits consist of a visual inspection of the home plus a ductwork leakage test. The audit checks four major areas for energy efficiency:
- Duct leakage using duct blower technology
- Adequate insulation in the attic
- Proper solar shading of windows that face south, east, and west
- Adequate weather stripping of doors and plumbing penetrations
The energy efficiency of your home is evaluated and a report generated detailing the findings of the audit. Included in the report are recommended improvements which will provide a more energy efficient and comfortable home. Neither the seller or buyer are obligated to implement any of the recommended improvements. Multifamily Properties in the City of Austin that receive electricity from Austin Energy and that are at least 10 years old must have an ECAD audit. The ECAD audit for apartments checks three major areas of concern:

Commercial Properties that receive electricity from Austin Energy must also have an energy rating by June 1, with the start date per the following schedule:
